Summary
MAES was founded in Los Angeles in 1974 to increase the number of Mexican Americans and other Hispanics in the technical and scientific fields. From there we have grown into a national society spawning professional and student chapters in high schools and colleges to continue the pursuit of our common goal. The society recognizes the importance of encouraging more youth to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), as a means for economic advancement and workforce development.
The MAES – UTSA Chapter is a student managed organization that is designed to help students during their collegiate career and to ultimately get hired in the STEM field workforce. MAES provides students of all majors and ethnicities with leadership development workshops, scholarships opportunities, participation in professional conferences, and community outreach programs all of which build students into well rounded leaders.
MAES-UTSA chapter is actively seeking and accepting new members who are interested in financial, scholastic, and social support during their progress towards a college degree. Meetings are held on campus to inform the students about all the events such as career opportunities, social events, fundraisers, intramural sports, and company tours.
